The original long animated film “Want to Communicate Your Voice” released last summer, starring the group “NOW ON AIR” composed of six newcomers from the audition of 3,000 applicants and the popular voice seiyusan Mori, starring a Lively and refreshing youth story. .
As an original animated film, this piece has not been well-known, but it has been enthusiastically supported by the audience since its release. This year, it also met with domestic audiences through the Shanghai International Film Festival. Together with the animated BD/DVD, we are also sharing the interviews with Ito, which I hope will allow more viewers to come into contact with this work. .
Topic: Broadcasting is a very space-expanding medium.
Ito is still in charge of the Dragon Son Animation Technology Institute. He first entered the animation industry as a painting, and then turned to the performance direction. He was mainly active in Toei Animation and Mad House. He used to be the Dongying version of Kanon. Supervision of works such as the sky of Asia, the summer of UFO, and “Overlord”. .
At the end of the first season of Overlord animation, Ito Supervisor received a contact with Mad House and hopes to continue working with him in his new work. In the few projects that Mad House gave, there was “I want to convey your voice.” .
“Want to convey your voice” is a part of the “Your Voice” project sponsored by Tohoku Shinsho. The prerequisite for the project is to use an audition to select a new girl to make an animated film. .
This work was born with the intention of promoting new people’s seiyuu. However, Ito Supervisor does not want people to think of it as an animation that is “made only for new people.” In order to make the film more meaningful, this idea has also become the driving force of his creation. He wants to make a movie that no matter who sees it. Not only do new seiyuu and high school girls attract young audiences, but he also wants to touch the hearts of older audiences. .
Because it is the use of “your voice” audition will choose the corner, the producer’s request is to use the “power of sound” to promote the story. However, there are too many works with the theme of “song”, and Ito Supervisor wants to create another path. The result of the exploration is the theme of “Want to convey your voice” – a small radio station. .
Broadcasting is a very private medium with a lot of space to explore, which makes it very interesting for Ito Supervisor. If you want to make a modern sense, perhaps webcast podcasts or online video anchors will be more appropriate, but these media have no way to talk about local topics. Although the number of viewers and listeners will be displayed, it is difficult to know what kind of people are listening and watching. In contrast, the geographical coverage of small broadcasts is very limited, even if people listen, the other party does not turn the radio to that channel, and can’t hear. Although there is a voice that you want to convey, but you don’t know if the other person is willing to listen, this uncertainty is also very dramatic. .
Unlike TV, there is no picture in the broadcast, so to say one thing, you must tell it from a variety of different directions. Ito Supervisor believes that the audience will listen to the radio, and a large part of the reason is also because the host is interested in talking about his own efforts. The girls who work hard are the same, they look very cute and make people feel good. From this point of view, the two main axes of “high school girls” and “broadcast” can be well combined. .
Narrative: Bring a refreshing look with a solid and compact script.
“Want to convey your voice” is the first original animated film directed by Ito Supervisor. Original animated films are often the privilege of well-known supervision, and they are able to get such an opportunity, which makes him feel very rare, even very nervous. .
Ito Supervisor likes movies very much and has always had the habit of watching movies. His own work should be broadcast in the theater, so that he can be full of energy. .
In terms of authoring methods, Ito Supervisor gained experience from his own “Overlord”, and thought that a solid and compact script would bring a refreshing look and feel. In “Want to convey your voice,” he further advanced this method of creation. .
Ishikawa was the son of the dragon, and Ito Supervisor once entered the Dragon Son Animation Technology Institute, so I heard about Ishikawa. However, “I want to convey your voice” is their first direct cooperation.
The number of people who want to convey your voice is limited and the duration is limited. If you don’t do well, the audience may not be able to recognize the role, and even watching who is who can’t figure it out. Ito can’t stand this. For example, when watching overseas war movies, because he is not familiar with actors, he can’t tell who is playing the role, so that he can’t immerse himself in the plot. .
Therefore, Ito Supervisor has always been working on the role of the role: to let the characters appear in the order, to give them what kind of situation to make an impression on the audience. In “Want to Communicate Your Voice,” only three characters appeared at the beginning, using this triangle partner to advance a story, and then insert the fourth person when the paragraph is over. This has been the case since then, and whenever new elements are added, new roles are invested. It is inevitable that the buds and the leaves will be late, and in order to make up for this, they will strengthen their individuality and design a debut form that will leave a vivid impression on the audience. He tried his best not to put pressure on the audience, so that everyone could easily watch the work. .
The contradiction of the story can be concentrated into two points: one is the dispute between Xiaofeng and Xiaoxi, and the other is the existence of “speaking spirit”. Ito Supervisor wants to solve these two contradictions at the same time in the scene of the final character singing. Although this is very difficult, he believes that relying on high-quality music can be achieved. .
There are many songs in the work. The animation is 94 minutes long. However, looking at the weight of the script does not seem to be enough to support a one-and-a-half-hour movie. This is because the script does not explicitly mark the usage of songs and music. This aspect is handed over to Ito Supervisor to judge. After joining the scene of music, the duration will become longer. Therefore, the script is written a little less to ensure that the length of the film is just right. .
Ito Supervisor first discussed with the music staff and decided to entrust them to create what kind of music. In the beginning, this project already had a song for audition. Next, they made a new song one by one, and completed the last one, which took a total of six months. .
For the script, Ito Supervisor also put forward a request to create each home for each starring girl. Because the “your voice” audition will not select “a few supporting roles”, but “six stars.” The seiyuu that was chosen very hard, only let people read a few lines, basically no chance of being active, it would be too much to say. Ito hopes to grasp the balance between the characters and the audience, so that the audience will not feel “how the girl is treated so badly.” .
Because the story is basically progressed in the first person of Xiaoyan, so Xiaoyi has the most plays and many monologues. There is no way. However, Ito Supervisor hopes that in the movies with limited duration, the other girls will be fully described, so that even the characters with few plays will have the opportunity to show their individuality. .
As a cost, the other characters’ plays are compressed to a minimum. Nozawa Masako, who is voiced by Ogura’s grandmother, and Yu Yugui, who is voiced by the childhood friend, is the seiyuu of the starring class. I invited people to the studio, but there were so few plays for others, and it was quite uncomfortable for Ito Supervisor. .
Speaking of monologues, many of the scenes of “Want to convey your voice” are skipped once with the monologue of Xiao Yan. Although this allowed the work to take into account roles and plots for a limited period, it was only after the creation of the picture that Ito Supervisor discovered that in the time of the mourning narration, they had to paint too much. This made him panic. .
“Want to convey your voice” also made a very interesting attempt: scenes such as the protagonist girls in the shopping street are not on the scene, they are all helping to supervise the mountain city Zhihui, and the protagonists Made in parallel. This practice is based on the “second film crew director” system of Hollywood movies: the director of the lack of skills, let other directors to film the main actors do not play. In fact, the scene of the animation at the beginning reflects the temperament of the character that Shancheng helps supervise in the mirror, and is the final part of the whole film. .
Ito Supervisor explained this “second film crew” system: the role of the uncle of the grocery store in the store, originally set by the original person who painted the original Aoki Jun. Ito Supervisor commissioned Shancheng to supervise and paint the “These people will make that kind of acting”. When Ito Supervisor finally sorts out the splits, she draws the scenes of the uncles who started based on her splits. The same is true when accompanying music and monologues to skip the story.
The sub-mirror of the mountain city to supervise the painting was eventually used in the movie in this chopped way. This made Ito supervisor feel quite uncomfortable. It is her description that brings thickness to the work and draws a connection between them and the residents of the town. The significance is very significant. .
For the six star roles, the film has not been deeply explored. For example, Xiao Yan called her mother by name, etc., all of which are very interesting details, but they have not been expanded. This also ensures that the rhythm of the work is compact. .
Ito Supervisor explained that the script Ishikawa learned to set up very detailed information for each girl, but because these settings are not directly related to the story told in the movie, he believes that it does not need to be written so deep. These cut-off parts were unfolded in the form of a radio drama in the radio program hosted by the starring group NOW ON AIR. .
Screen: How to make a simple combination of simple characters and fine backgrounds.
In terms of the screen, Ito Supervisor hopes to give full play to the unique style of the original Aoki. In Aoki’s collection, there is a painting that combines his characters and real-life photos. Ito Supervisor is very interested and wants to make animations in this direction. .
In order to realize the picture that I want, Ito Supervisor wants to tell the story a place where it can be the stage. He wanted to find a place with a ramp and a sea, and the hospital received a signal from a small radio station on the beach. According to this condition, he chose Shonan in Kanagawa Prefecture. He went to Shonan to take a picture and thought that the feelings given to him could make a different picture from the existing animation. .
Originally, the range of small radio stations was clearly received, at most 100 meters. Under the circumstance, this condition is very stubborn. Therefore, Ito Supervisor has also carefully studied the relevant knowledge of sending equipment to ensure the authenticity of the story. .

Based on his photo taken in Shonan, “The Want to Communicate Your Voice,” the art supervised Hashimoto and fortunately painted a fascinating background. Ito Supervisor believes that combining such exquisite scenery with Aoki’s straightforward and simple characters can make up the interesting picture that you want. .
The charm of Aoki’s style is based on his flatness. Ito Supervisor really wants to keep this feature in the film. However, if there is no sense of three-dimensionality, the audience will not be used as an animation. He pondered how to balance and design the characters used in animation. .
Ito Supervisor said that if you draw a shadow like a normal animation, the three-dimensional feeling will be too strong, losing the charm of Aoki. Therefore, “I want to convey your voice” only draws the minimum shadow. It also took a lot of thought into the color processing of the shaded parts. In order to show the flatness of the charm without leaving the background, if not necessary, they try to avoid scenes that are bright and dark as if they are going from the shade to the sun. In turn, they added a circle of highlights to the characters, allowing people to better integrate into the landscape. .
The meticulous daily acting and the rich expression of the character are also the charm of “Want to convey your voice”. Ito Supervisor believes that because this work has no action and do things, daily acting is essential. However, if all the lenses are added to the daily acting, then there will be excess. He commissioned a superb painting to participate in this work, drawing exquisite acting for key occasions. .
Ito supervised himself and participated in the original painting of this work. He smiled and said that with his production method, in the second half of the animation, there is nothing to do. However, others are busy. As a supervisor, he is not good at doing anything, so he will help to draw a picture of no one. .
Among them, the most important work of Ito Supervisor is to make the picture move with the CG Guide. Because the CG Guide is 3D, the stereo is very strong. If you follow the CG, you will lose the flatness that he values. Therefore, when painting this kind of lens, you can neither copy the CG nor make a mistake. With such a high demand, it is difficult to find the original painter who can please.
According to Ito’s supervision, when the movie is coming to an end, when the six protagonists sing, the lens rotates from the air to the card that pulls the character closer. Originally, they didn’t think of this card. It was when Ito Supervisor cooperated with the song to draw a good edit. He felt that there was a lack of lenses on the front and back, and he added such a shot. Because there is only this card, he has tried his best and finally solved it. .
Voice: It is both fresh and acting.
As a publicly funded seiyuu project, the “Your Voice” audition will select 6 animated stars in August 2016. The final review excerpted the scenes in the work, allowing the applicant to try to dub. In the end, the dubbed voice of the main public is the one with the least number of votes among the six members. .
Ito Supervisor has always felt that the seiyuu suitable for Xiaoyan should be a “not so professional” acting. The judges will definitely want to choose people with good skills, and those who are selected are also very talented. However, Ito Supervisor believes that the benefit of newcomers lies in freshness. That kind of freshness is not the same as that of a layman. .
This balance makes Ito’s supervision very troublesome. From the second trial session of the audition, he asked the judges to deliberately leave a few people with the fresh acting skills he wanted. Among these people, the one selected was Ping. .
There have been a lot of twists and turns in the final casting, but in the end, I still came to the conclusion that “it is interesting to let the film come together with a small one.” Xiao Yan is a sentimental girl who will cry when she is still moving. The filming performance also has a similar sense of restlessness and a high degree of coincidence. In the actual dubbing, the performance of the film was exactly the same as that pursued by Ito Supervisor, and he even felt a little proud. .
In order to enable new people to perform this work, Ito Supervisor and each member individually interviewed and showed them the role of the character and the character setting. In October and November 2016, the animation held a scripting test session, allowing the seiyuu to sit at the table and read the lines like a live-action movie. At the end of the year, six members performed the same test recordings in the form of official recordings. The official recording was the second year of February. .
Careful preparations allow seiyuu to make a new act while retaining the freshness of the newcomer. .

When watching “Want to convey your voice,” the audience can easily notice that there is a frog that runs through the film. It was this frog that brought Xiaoxiao to the blue sea and blue sky cafe. After that, it appeared in the works from time to time, and it will appear after the ending of the end of the staff table. .
Ito Supervisor explained that this frog was the legacy of the original project before he joined. He himself is not very clear about what the plan looks like. It seems to be a grand story of the girl who used the song to save the world, and the war of angels and demons. In that plan, Angel Michael lost power and entered the world, meeting the heroine. The Japanese of Michael was a scorpion. When it came into a film, it turned into a frog – oh, watching the little cockroach. .
Ito Supervisor concluded that although the protagonist of “Want to Communicate Your Voice” is just an ordinary girl, there is neither a love element nor a big event, but he believes that a good story has been made, and I hope that the audience must see it. . .
