Established in 1998, the animation studio BONES celebrates its 20th year. As a 20th anniversary, it has also held a souvenir exhibition at the Tokyo Animation Center, which has gathered many works produced in the community over the past 20 years. The December issue of NewType, the 2018 issue, also produced a special issue of the 20th anniversary of BONES, covering everything from the current five studios to the supervision of BONES works, interviews and history of seiyuu. We selected interviews from various producers, introduced the history of these five studios, and reviewed BONES for 20 years. .
As we all know, the 5 studios of BONES are named after A, B, C, D, E: A studio is the studio set up at the beginning of BONES, mainly based on original works; In 2002, the establishment of Studio B also brought great changes to the works of BONES; C Studio was established in 2003, and the first time to work as a production is “Fullmetal Alchemist”, the predecessor of PAWORKS In the middle of the animation shop, animation studio and many other studios currently active in the front line also participated in this work; D studio was established in 2009, precisely because of the second animated “Fullmetal Alchemist” Founded in 2015 by the Fullmetal Alchemist; E Studio was established in 2015 for the trilogy of the theatre “Eureka seveN Hi-Evolution”, which has assembled many established producers. .

Masterpieces: “Machine Wonders and Legends”, “Wolf Rain”, “HEROMAN”, “Hisone and Masotan”, “GOSICK”, “Wild God” and so on.
The BONES, which marks its 20th anniversary, also means that BONES’s top-pillar A studio and its first work, “Machines and Wonders”, have also ushered in 20 years. At the time of “Machine Wonderful Biography of the Greek War”, Amano Hiroshi, who is now a studio producer, is still making. Amano, who belonged to Studio B for a period, was officially incorporated into Studio An after “Wolf Rain”. .
The works that make Amano unforgettable belong to the original HEROMAN, which was the original master of the Marvels who died in the past few days. It was an extremely rare experience to be able to work with such a great master. The work “HEROMAN” is supervised by the veterans of Namba, who is the director of the animators, Kawamoto Lee, and Tomioka Takashi. At that time, he was still a new enthusiasm (small man) and active as an illustrator and composer on niconico. After the animators, Oda Hiroyuki, Miyuki Kazuhiro, and the performer タムラコータロー (Takamura Taro), the main producers of BONES’s other works have also performed well in this work. Amano recalled the production site at that time. The overall coordination has left a deep impression on him. At that time, Amano participated in the work as the production director (Desk), and the corner of the game Amano Rickey (CV: Sheng Xingli) was based on the straight tree of Amano. Dr. Nassau (CV: Matsumoto’s Code) of Amano Rickey is naturally based on the president of BONES’s Nan Yayan. It is said that Amano revealed that this idea is entirely a series of “pranks” that constitute a big man in the house and the character design hill. I didn’t expect that even I would be spoofed by them, and even the character was almost the same as the drama. .
Looking back at the films made in these years, “original” has always been the biggest feature of Studio A. From the original “Machine Wonders” to the recent “AICO Incarnation” “Hisone and Mastan”, and next year, the new work “CAROLE & TUESDAY” supervised by Watanabe Shinichiro, mostly compared with machinery and robots. In the B studio where the fight is more, the action scene in the studio is centered on the character. Since the establishment of BONES, A Studio has been actively investing in original works. Compared with other studios, A Studio has more original works. And the style is not single, rich and colorful, this is the characteristic of A work.
When Amano joined BONES, there were not many members. It was such a small studio that gave him the feeling of “family”. The collective feeling was very strong, and of course it is now. Now, the president of the South Studio, who led the B studio, often leads everyone to eat barbecues that are very inconsistent with the summer in the summer, so whether it is C Studio’s Otsuka Hiroshi, D Studio’s Suzuki Mali, E Studio Watanabe (Tan Biancheng), everyone is a “family” who eats a pot. No matter which studio, after all, they are brothers and sisters who are derived from A studio. Therefore, the small fight between brothers and sisters is also a common thing, but everyone has always supported the big family of BONES, one can not be less. .
Amano’s dream is to make a theater animation, originally because of the industry that entered the movie. However, the studio A, which is the leader of the BONES, still has no theater work yet, which makes him feel incredible. Therefore, I hope that in the future, I will lead a studio animation to create a theater animation. Of course, this is only a matter of opportunity and timing. I hope that Mr. Amano will be able to do so one day. .

The first animation produced by the studio B, led by the president Naya Yahiko, is the two theater productions by the predecessor, SUNRISE 2nd Studio, “Azko Kony” and “Cowboy Bebop.”扉》. Based on these two works, I started to create the original animation “RahXephon” and set up a new B studio. Later, President Nan personally acted as the producer and produced “Abandoned Princess”, “Dawn of Marting Dance Sacrifice” and “The Symphonic Psalm Eureka seveN”. Although the “Dawn of Marting Dance Sacrifice Mars” is a game based on the original work, the content of the animation is basically original. As always, the spirit of Studio B is more biased towards the king than the sci-fi. It is more inclined than the role of the robot. Animation. .
In the early works of B Studio, the most beautiful scene is the theater animation “The Foreigners Without Emperor Blade Tan” supervised by Ando Masahiro. This work, which was based on the Warring States Period of Japan, brought together the original masters of the inevitable BONES, such as Ito Kazuyuki, Nakamura, and Saito Hender. The time and experience paid for this work have made the South President’s memory fresh. .

Subsequently, Watanabe, who belonged to the B studio at that time, took over the baton of the president of the South, and stood in the command of the squad, and produced the original manuscript, which was adapted from the original work of Shikiro Mori, and the original animation before the network distribution. President Nan wanted to make such a story, so he threw the plan “forcibly” to Studio B.
Now, Nagano Yuki has left BONES in 2016 and has set up a new studio DURIAN with Ehime Seigo. I believe that in the future works, he will fully utilize his experience. At present, Studio B is working hard for “Psychic 100% II”, and still focuses on Tachikawa’s supervision and character design and painting supervision, and is a collection of many new animators, so as not to lose to the previous work. In 2003, the BONES, which had already started to double-open, suddenly wanted to open another reinforcement line. For this reason, a new C studio was created for the “Fullmetal Alchemist”. The leader of the C studio is Da Yu Fang Guang. During the production of “RahXephon Wings”, Ito Kazuo suddenly recommended a comic book – “Fullmetal Alchemist”. After watching it, I immediately reported to the South President, hoping to adapt this work into an animation. However, the first thing I did was not the production of TV animation, but the cutscenes in the PS2 game “The Angel of the Fullmetal Alchemist”. At that time, the producer of the game, who was involved in the production of this cut-off animation, was the prototype of C Studio, who supervised Mizushima Seiji, character design, and painting design supervision. .
In the production of game animation, I talked about the TV animation project, and the production of the TV series officially started. The “Fullmetal Alchemist”, which was broadcast on the MBS TV stations at 6 o’clock in the evening for one year and every Saturday, has received attention from all walks of life. Daxie is also proud of this new studio, but the process of setting up is hard-won. .
At that time, A Studio was busy with “Wolf Rain” and Studio B was producing the “RahXephon Legend of the Wings”, the “Multivariate Variations”. The main force of BONES was almost free to pick up the film of C Studio. In addition to the big cockroaches, C Studio was only the one who was supervised by Ito Kazuyuki and later became the 悠 (Komori Kaori) supervised by “Yuyou” and “Mummy to My Home”. So I had to borrow people everywhere and finally completed this masterpiece. Therefore, letting Daxie cite one of his most impressive animations is undoubtedly the “Fullmetal Alchemist.” .
The experience gained from The Fullmetal Alchemist is also a huge asset for Daxie. As the origin of the C studio, I received 50 words and 1 year from the beginning, and it was also a masterpiece broadcast on the entire Japanese TV network. It also made Daxie more confident. “My Hero Academy” is also a work of the same scale, and anyone who receives such a work will feel the glory of anyone. “Fullmetal Alchemist” is the second TV animated work of “Fullmetal Alchemist”, still produced by BONES, and D studio is set up for this work. Like the big studio of C Studio, “Steel FA” is also a huge treasure for Suzuki Mali in D Studio. Today, in addition to the old animation companies and studios, TV series that can be connected for more than one year are almost rare. To make such a long animation, you must have a supervised supervisor to maintain the production team on site. The entrance to Taijiang Taihao is the best candidate for Suzuki’s side. The skills and skills learned from the admission to the river have also greatly helped her future work. .
After the production of “Steel Refining FA”, D Studio produced “NO.6” “The Tempest of the Garden” “棺姬嘉依卡”. In the early days of the establishment of BONES, the old painters of the original brand, Mr. Kanno, and the role of “Wenhao Wild Dog” were designed by Shinsui Shinshiro. Suzuki is the second generation employee of BONES who has been established for more than 10 years, but she thinks that D Studio is more like the “backbone” of BONES than the first, generation, A, C, and E studios. Suzuki said that he would not deliberately know that this is BONES’s work when he was in the project. BONES’s works should not be tied to a certain type, but to the “extra-segmentation”, and the South President naturally nodded in agreement. What is the characteristic of South President BONES? South President also can’t give a clear answer, everything is free, probably this is BONES. .
Unlike other studios, the animation of D Studio is almost an original adaptation. When doing the adaptation, Suzuki said that it is similar to the original. For example, the work of “Ji Jia Eika” is based on the original novel, but the amount of animation required is almost the same as the original. However, the original works are more representative of the core of the studio. Suzuki said that he participated in the early days of the company’s participation in “The Deaf” and “Zamud of Death”, and he also hopes to be an original work, the fatigue of today’s society. There are more people, and Suzuki hopes to create an original work that will be bright and warm to the audience. .

E Studio is a new studio created in 2015 due to the trilogy of the theatrical version of the symphonic poem Eureka seveN Hi-Evolution. Producer Watanabe said that rather than the current size of E Studio, it is better to say that it is a special space. Perhaps because of “Eureka seveN”, the original painter in the working room currently specializes in the supervision of the village, and nearly 80% of them are specialized in machinery. The rest also includes colors and performances, and Kyoeda’s confidant also has an exclusive table in E Studio. .
Watanabe is also one of the early members of BONES. In the same year, he followed the president of South Asia to participate in the theatrical version of “Esga Kony” and “Cowboy Bebop”. After that, Studio B was independent and producer. I have participated in many works. What impressed him the most was his symphonic poem Eureka seveN, who was involved as the production director.
From the TV series “Eureka seveN”, to the theatrical version of “Pocket Full of Rainbow”, “Eureka seveN AO” also had a little help at the beginning, Watanabe has been with Eureka seveN. When deciding to be a theatrical trilogy, Watanabe said that this is his mission, not a mission to participate. .

In the past 20 years in the industry, Watanabe hopes that in the future, he will be grateful to the colleagues who participated in the production of the works in the past. Especially now, he is working with him on the mechanical painting team of Hi-Evolution. Whether the future works will challenge the CG works or the paintings as always, he can’t foresee them. I hope that I can work with them especially strongly. In addition, regarding the future mechanical animation, Watanabe said that mechanical animation is no longer the mainstream in the industry, but he will still stick to his own preferences, and he will insist on mechanical animation until he is dead. .
